Most flights arrive very early in the morning. When you land, you will be greeted by a member of our UK team who will be waiting for you at the airport. From there, you’ll be driven around one hour to a luxury hotel where you can relax, shower, and recover from your long flight.
Once you’re refreshed, we’ll take you to visit the local camel market, a real highlight and an authentic experience few tourists ever get to see. After food and a relaxed evening, you’ll spend another night at the hotel.
We do this intentionally so you are fully rested, refreshed, and mentally prepared for the endurance and unpredictability of the Iron Ore Train adventure ahead.
After breakfast, your UK guide will pick you up and begin the 12–14 hour road journey to Zouérat, the starting point of the Iron Ore Train route.
The drive itself is an adventure, taking you deep into remote desert landscapes rarely seen by outsiders. Once in Zouérat, you’ll check into a local hotel for the night. These hotels are basic, but they give you the chance to get some proper sleep before the main event begins.
Today is the day.
You’ll be picked up by your UK guide and driven into town to buy supplies such as food, water, and blankets for the train ride. From there, you’ll head out to the railway and wait for the train to arrive.
And yes, expect waiting. The Iron Ore Train runs on its own schedule, and patience is part of the experience. The difference is that we have direct contact with the train drivers and local contacts, so we know exactly when it’s time to move.
When the moment comes, you’ll climb aboard and begin one of the most legendary train journeys on Earth. A local guide will travel with you throughout the journey. They will stay in a separate carriage, meaning your group still gets the full authentic experience and your own space, while knowing expert help is nearby if needed.
If the train breaks down, security arrives, or any issues happen along the way, our team handles everything for you. You focus on the experience. We handle the rest.
You’ll eventually arrive at the coast, although timing always depends on when the train departed and any delays along the route.
Once off the train, you’ll be driven to the ocean where you can finally wash off the desert dust and iron ore from the journey. After food and some time to recover, you’ll head back to a luxury hotel for a proper shower, clean bed, and well-earned comfort.
Today is all about recovery.
The Iron Ore Train takes a lot out of you physically and mentally, so we give you time to properly relax and enjoy what you’ve just achieved. Spend the day resting by the hotel, sharing photos, uploading videos, and telling your story.
Most people are still buzzing from the experience at this point and this extra day makes a huge difference before flying home. You’ll spend one final night at the hotel.
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and driven to the airport for your flight home.
Please remember: we deliberately build extra time into this itinerary. It may sometimes feel like parts could be done faster, but we’ve personally completed this journey ourselves and know firsthand how unpredictable it can be. Trains can break down, delays happen, and conditions change quickly.
That’s why we plan properly, prepare for every angle, and stay with you throughout the entire experience.
Unlike other companies that only put people on at Choum, which is only half the journey, we do the full Iron Ore Train route. Many say it can’t be done.
We’ve done it.
That’s why we are Do or Die Adventures.
